Social

With all that Slifka does to contribute to the cultural, religious and academic landscape of Yale and the New Haven community, the Center is also dedicated to fun and free-spirited social gatherings for their own sake.

This year’s Hannukkah Ball saw 200 students dancing past midnight in celebration of light and religious tolerance…but also because a party with latkes is a great way to let off steam before finals.

Our annual Taglit Birthright trip is an excellent way to get to know a busload of other students by taking a meaningful journey together, to discover a living connection to Israel.

Susman Hall with its purple couches and cozy chairs is often filled with groups of students just hanging out, even when not being used for Open Mic night at Café Slifka (a regular late-night alcohol free happening, sponsored by The Noah Fund) or an impromptu oneg. Slifka is, after all, a home for Jewish Life – which includes just kicking back and relaxing.
