GENERAL INFORMATION

JOSEPH SLIFKA CENTER offers Conservative, Reform, Orthodox, Yoga and Children’s Services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah will start at sundown on Friday, September 18th. Yom Kippur starts at sundown on Sunday, September 27th.

Slifka Center services, designed with the Yale Jewish Community in mind, are open to all.

RESERVATIONS

Graduate and undergraduate students (at any institution) are welcomed with a student ID.  Those without a student ID are asked to present tickets at each service.  For ticket information, please click here.

CONSERVATIVE SERVICES Battell Chapel, corner of College and Elm
Join us for the Yamim Noraim, the Days of Awe.  Our service follows a traditional Conservative framework and incorporates singing, a chance for silent meditation and words of Torah in one of Yale’s historic sacred spaces.  Led by Rabbi James Ponet, Howard M. Holtzmann Jewish Chaplain at Yale and Rabbi Lauren Holtzblatt, Associate Rabbi at Slifka Center, with other members of the community.

REFORM SERVICES First and Summerfield United Methodist Church, corner of College and Elm
Rabbi Jessica Zimmerman and members of the Yale Reform Chavurah offer song-filled, warm, participatory and accessible services.  This service follows a familiar Reform structure, and adds readings and melodies that speak to members of the community, giving life to liturgy.

ORTHODOX SERVICES Joseph Slifka Center, 80 Wall Street
The Orthodox Minyan at Yale provides an all-Hebrew prayer experience suffused with the traditional High-Holiday melodies.  Anyone looking for a traditional service – regardless of background or level of observance – is welcome to join us.  Prayers are lead by men. Men and women sit separately.  All are welcome.  Led by students/community, sermons by Rabbi Jason Rappoport, Associate Rabbi, Slifka Center and Co-Director of the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus.

YOGA AND MEDITATION Afro-American Cultural Center, 211 Park Street
Join us for an experience incorporating the liturgy of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur with meditation and movement. Unite the physical and spiritual aspects of yourself as you open your heart and stretch your body.
