Slifka Center Arts Submission Guidelines
Submission Guidelines – Slifka Center
The Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale is interested in exhibiting quality art work that engages with Jewish themes (expansively defined) in creative, pluralistic and thought-provoking ways, and that encourages dialogue between art-work and audience.
Slifka Center reviews submissions for exhibitions biannually and schedules shows to coincide with the academic calendar year. The deadline for submissions for spring semester exhibits is September 15th, with decisions made after the High Holidays. The deadline for submissions for fall semester exhibits is March 15th, with decisions made in April.
The gallery space can accommodate paintings, prints, watercolors and any artwork that can hang on walls. In certain circumstances, sculptures and multi-media installations can be displayed. There is also a limited amount of space available for outdoor exhibition.
Shows should come ready to hang, and the artist is requested to cover the expense of shipping. Slifka Center will provide staff support for installation and cover costs of the opening reception, as well as labels, text panels and publicity and marketing for the show.
Artists should submit:
- An Artist Statement in which you discuss the theme your show and why you think it is relevant and appropriate for exhibition at Slifka Center.
- Up to 20 digital images in jpg format on a CD.
- A hard copy of 5 – 10 images.
- A printed list of name, title, date and dimensions of each work.
- A hard copy of your resume, bio, or CV. Please include a digital copy on the CD.
- A description of ideas for programming that could be offered by Slifka Center in conjunction with the show.
