Friday, February 20

Registration open all day – pick up your guide to events at Slifka Center (80 Wall Street)

5 – 7 pm: Welcome Shabbat with services and happy hour

7 – 9 pm: Shabbat dinner in Commons
Shabbat 1000 – a Yale Hillel, Yale Chabad, and Yale Chaplain’s Office event

9 pm: Welcoming session, led by Rabbi James Ponet,’68,  Howard M. Holtzmann Jewish Chaplain at Yale and Head of Slifka Center.

Saturday, February 21

Shabbat services as listed in registration packet (times vary). Contact Slifka if you are interested in helping lead services or read torah.

12 – 1:30 pm: Lunch in the Kosher Kitchen

1:30 pm: Discussion and Learning. An exploration of text and thought on the nature of Transformation. Join with other alumni to discuss transformations in Judaism, our world and ourselves.  Religious and secular texts (fully translated) will be handed out during lunch.  Led by Rabbi James Ponet, ‘68.

4 pm: Yoga Service or Alumni Discussion. Zachary Kaufman ‘00, LAW’09 and Sarah Turbow ‘10, discussing their Jewish responses to International Justice.

6 pm: Dinner

7:00 pm: Jewbilly, an original one woman show by Anya Liftig ’99
followed by dessert and an Alumni Panel Discussion on Judaism, Identity Formation and the Arts, featuring Anya Liftig ‘99, Daphne Uviller ‘93, Pam Weinstock ‘89.

late night (the official unofficial young alumni pub crawl – “plans” TBD – see Gabrielle Pasternak, Development Associate)

Sunday, February 22

10:00 am: Alumni Panel Discussion and closing session, led by Rabbi James Ponet, ‘68. “What Makes a Life Worth Living” featuring Professor Tamar Gendler ‘87, Professor Charles Hill, Andrew Morse ‘68, Daniel Strimpel, ‘11 and Carina Schorske, ‘09.

11:00 am – 1:00 pm: Bagel Brunch

  • There is no pre-registration for this event, but RSVPs are welcome to (203) 432-1134.
  • There is no charge for this event, however, a donation envelope will be included in registration packets – this has been a challenging year and donations in any amount will help Slifka Center to continue its many vibrant expressions of Jewish life on the Yale campus.
