Levinas Thought
Visiting professor, Michael Morgan, author of Discovering Levinas and numerous other works that explore modern Jewish philosophy, will lead three informal discussion sessions at Slifka Center on the thought of Levinas. Levinas, whose works reached the United States only in the 1980′s, died in France in 1995. Famous for his assertion of the primacy of “the ethical,” and the power of face to face encounter, Levinas continues to exercise strong influence on Jewish thinkers across the full religious spectrum.
